Privacy Policy
Effective 10 October 2026
SimplyInk is built to keep your notes yours. This page explains, in plain terms, what the app stores and who can see it.
What we collect
SimplyInk does not require an account and does not collect personal information such as your name, email address or contacts. Everything you create — notebooks, pages, handwriting, images, text, audio recordings and stationery — is stored locally on your device.
iCloud sync
If iCloud is enabled on your device, your notebooks sync between your iPhone and iPad through your own private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. That data is held in your personal iCloud container: the developer of SimplyInk cannot read, access or recover it. Apple's handling of that data is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy. You can turn sync off at any time in iOS Settings or in the app. Audio recordings stay on the device and are not synced.
Analytics and diagnostics
The app may collect anonymous, aggregated usage and crash diagnostics to help find bugs and understand which features are used — for example, that a tool was selected, or that a purchase was restored. These reports are not linked to your identity and never include the contents of your notebooks. You can opt out of sharing diagnostics with Apple in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements. Firebase Analytics may be used for anonymous event reporting; see Google's Firebase privacy information.
Purchases
SimplyInk can be downloaded so you can try every tool with limits on how many notebooks and pages you keep. SimplyInk Pro is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase that removes those limits on every device signed into your Apple ID. There is no subscription.
The purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. SimplyInk never sees or stores your payment details — Apple provides the app with a receipt that confirms your entitlement only. Purchases can be restored from the App Store at any time.
Third-party services
- Apple iCloud / CloudKit — device sync. Privacy policy
- Apple App Store — distribution and in-app purchases. Privacy policy
- Firebase Analytics (Google) — anonymous usage events. Privacy information
On-device recognition
Handwriting search and Convert to Text use Apple's on-device Vision frameworks. Recognition runs on your device; the contents of your pages are not sent to SimplyInk servers for OCR.
Children
SimplyInk is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your choices
- Delete any notebook or page at any time from within the app.
- Turn off iCloud sync to keep everything on a single device.
- Export notebooks or selected pages as PDF and keep your own copies.
- Deleting the app removes its local data from that device.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects how your data is handled, the effective date above will be updated and the change will be described in the app's release notes.
